I have been where you are.
I trained as a classical cellist at the Sibelius Academy. The path ahead was already mapped out, but it never felt like mine.
What started as a fun experiment turned into a complete reinvention of myself as the world’s first metal cellist, and the founding of Apocalyptica. I built a genre that did not exist, while my professors told me I was destroying the instrument.
Since then, I’ve been a musician, composer, performer, producer, roadie, promoter, manager, booking agent, and engineer. I’ve rented venues, sold tickets, and driven flyers around myself.
I’ve raised two children alongside my career. I’ve also been through some of the darker places a musician can go. I have watched close friends fall – overdoses, drinking themselves to death, suicides. I had undiagnosed ADHD for most of my life. I had a drinking problem, and then I got sober.
So when someone tells me where they are, I am rarely hearing it for the first time.
I made many mistakes. And then I spent years figuring it out, studying psychology, the brain, hypnotherapy, and coaching because I wanted to understand why the usual advice didn't work for me.
That is what I’ve put into this course.
Discipline was never your problem.
Musicians don't lead normal working lives.

Why do it with a group?
When we study an instrument, lessons create a framework for accountability. It’s why we typically make progress when we actively practise, study, or perform with others – and stall when we work in a void.
My course gives you the method. What it can’t do on its own is make you sit down, do the work and show it to someone for feedback.

The four sessions
Every session is 90 minutes. They’re recorded, so you can watch the replay if you can’t make one live.
Before we start, you’ll work through Module 1 and make a first pass at the Why Do I Play? worksheet. That way, we’re not starting from zero when we meet.
